I think these look great mate. I can't argue with the interest around the price point. Soft plastics make dabbling in a new area affordable and fun!

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the project.

Great looking stuff! It's quite a sizeable force you've built up there.

Thanks for the comments, it's been an undertaking but been good for me to stay focused and sharing does help the motivation a lot.

Massachusetts Volunteers are done and ready to be packed away.

Latest update adds some cavalry and some more sharpshooters to the group. This about wraps things up except for generals and one more artillery unit and then it's onward to the Confederacy.

And the finished cavalry after highlighting them again before packing them up.

A lot of figures brought under the brush as I've kept focused towards getting a base group of ten regular line infantry, three sharpshooters, three artillery, and one cavalry unit. Plan to expand as time goes by but didn't want to get too bogged down painting units for just one side forever.
Also picked up about eight 'western wagons' at the Dollar Store that I'm going to do up for supply route protection missions as well. Project is still going strong and I'm not bored with it yet.

More works in progress as I move closer to finishing up the Union side of things. One last artillery unit and the Generals have just hit the 'dip' portion before getting based, matte finished, highlighting and detail work.

Been a long road but at least I'm half way there and hopefully able to reach completion before the first convention in July.

Still enjoying working on the figures but am not going to lie in that I'm ready to just do some grey and butternut for a little while. Starting out doing all the Confederate artillery, then the sharpshooters, then I'll move into the line infantry.

The commanders are winding their way to completion. Once these last centerpieces are complete I can officially start on the Confederate side of things. Artillery units are cleaned and ready for priming now with about eight command bases to finish now.

Winfield  Scott Hancock

William Tecumseh Sherman

Ulysses S. Grant

John Fulton Reynolds

And Abraham 'Vampire Slayer' Lincoln

I'll only ever use one command at a time but it's nice to have options, right? Especially the Lincoln figure but i might just put him out evcery time because any Confederate player will inevitably ask what happens if Lincoln is killed on the field, right?

Looking great. Would love to see photos of your battles.
Wish I'd bought some All the king's Men figures last year. Of course it's too late now that Ken has retired

The one time Lincoln was under fire (at Fort Stevens) a Union soldier (said to be young officer Oliver Wendell Holmes), not knowing who he was addressing, yelled "Get down, you damn fool!" Lincoln complied.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

With the Union out to rest I've started on the Confederate end of the project. Three units of Artillery completed with four crew and an officer and ensign for each unit.

Figures are a mix of BMC, Armies in Plastic, Toy soldiers of San Diego, and Marx. Currently have 24 skirmisher/sharpshooter figures cleaned up and ready for priming. Basically doing the reverse of the Union and doing the 'specialist units' first and then doing the line infantry.

Skirmishers found themselves dipped in brown gravy before heading for base painting and the matte spray. Progress has slowed a little on this project but I got a second wind yesterday and put a couple hours into it finally. Just hate it when life throws obstacles down and even something you love sometimes seems like a chore.

Have to remember to follow up with the finished pictures. After these I suppose I'll do the cavalry and then start in on the line troops and finish off with the generals. Then I can go back and start filling in the bits and bobs and getting more terrain in order.

And the next stage of the figures that are now tucked in to be highlighted and completed. Should be just a couple days and they'll be settled in and I can start on the next batch of figures.

Still rolling with this project. I have my good paint days, my unmotivated paint days, and let's just say when starting the project I had no idea how many road blocks were going to be thrown down to try to stall it's completion.

Thirty-seven days until the convention and 112 figures to paint still. Off next week so hopefully will put aside my procrastination and get stuck in to get them done.

Closing in on the finishing line at last. Not quite a year and just have four more Confederate units to finish and some generals and this project is in the bag. Probably the only thing I'm going to haul to conventions for the foreseeable future.

Probably the only thing that was a mood killer was how far behind I got over the year being sick and all. Lots of recovery time rather than painting time but I still managed to pull it out and meet my deadline of September 6th for the Lone Star Game Expo. Eventually may even start a new thread of, gasp, battle reports.
