Getting Ready for Crisis
« on: October 22, 2018, 12:40:35 PM »
Afternoon all

We are less than two weeks away from Crisis and the Lard Island build project is well underway.  This year we will be running two games, one of What a Tanker run by my chum, Fat Nicholas, while I will be running a Chain of Command game set in the Netherlands in 1940.  The latter requires a fair bit of new terrain for the Peel-Raam lone defences which the Germans encountered on the 10th of May 1940.

You can find some of what we've been doing on Lard Island News.  Here is the first bit on the canal line:  https://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=7434

Here's the second bit on some Dutch bunkers:   https://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=7468

And here are a few snaps.

I hope we will see some LAFers there.  More updates to come over the next week.

Cheers

Rich

I was reading this on the blog the other night , Rich , nice to see it featured on this forum . I particularly like the way you share the problems and solutions in your terrain making ventures.

Oooh, now this is exactly up my alley, so I'll surely be there! 8)

I've (admittedly very) slowly been working on a similar project, rules-set to be determined; May 1940 in Noord-Brabant, ranging from the Peel-Raam Stelling all the way back to the Moerdijk bridge.

So I'm very interested to see how you will set your table, and how the new CoC Blitzkrieg rules work. Which, coincidentally, I'm planning on picking up at Crisis anyway...

The progress shots so far certainly look promising :)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Belisarius

Thanks.  The truth is that I am not naturally artistic, so I hope that I can encourage people who also have ten thumbs to give it a go.  Even if my terrain isn't brilliant compared with the gifted amongst us, it is at least unique and a bit different and we can all achieve that much without a lot of effort or any clever bits of kit or tools.

Daeothar.  It's my plan to do some Pint-Sized campaigns in the Netherlands covering the action.  The campaign, short as it was, has much to recommend it and the May 40 figures are rather swish.  Hopefully see you there.

Cheers

Rich

It was great seeing the table in action at Crisis; it looked awesome. 8)

As an aside; I got the CoC Blitzkrieg book there as well, so I will be dabbling in the same era soon(ish).

And that gem of a source book that Rich showed off; "Het Krijgsvolk van Weleer, 1940" was awesome too. So much so, that when I got home from Antwerp, I went online and bought the only 2nd hand one I could find; it's en-route as I type this... :D

So thanks for a great display and equally great book reference! :)

Great to see everyone there.  We had a smashing time, as always.

If anyone is interested, we have just produced a podcast of our trip to Arnhem which we visited before we went to Crisis.
You can find it on  Lard Island News here:
