Giant House Spider
« on: October 22, 2018, 06:54:10 PM »
We have a big house spider that lives under a paving slab, outside our back door. She’s pretty fierce, last seen battling a slug. Anyway, she’s also freaks me out enough that I thought she’d make s great miniature.
So I set about sculpting a massive house spider and here’s the results. I’ve made a resin copy, which got a quick slap of paint.
I’ll be including her in my next Kickstarter project, which will be along soon...ish.

I don't mind spiders, but that painted photo of it on your hand is … icky. Too realistic.

Very nice. Will it have metal legs or all resin. Just thinking about terrible snapping problems!

Thanks all.
He’s all resin, but the resin is the bendy sort, which is very resilient and will take a fair amount of abuse before breaking.

Thank you. I’m aiming for mid January. Gives me plenty of time to get more sculpts together.

One thing can be too realistic in mini form and that thing is spiders. I might actually have trouble handling that!

I know how you feel. I find myself checking  it before I pick it up, just in case it’s a real one sitting on the table (it’s be unusually big if it was, but best to make sure)

To give you an indication of the effect your model is having, I left the pictures up on the computer and MrsCub walked in the room. "What the f--k is that! What the f--k is that!" I tried to explain, but didn't get more than two words in before, "I don't care what it is, get it the f--k off the computer or I'm not coming in the room. That is minging. I'm serious, get it off the screen or I'm not coming in!"

And she doesn't normally swear either, let alone insert dashes into rude words.
