Here's Negan game - Anyone Home? Revisited30/11/2018
« on: October 28, 2018, 07:53:15 AM »
So I was lucky enough to get the Here's Negan board game.

It is certainly a substantial box.

Full of stuff.

The Saviours

The Walkers.

As you can see, they are the same ones as TWD:AOW*, but the walkers are generic enough poses that is not a problem.

Negan certainly towers over everybody. Crooked Dice 28mm William Killian for scale.

More later.

Sorry I don't know what is TWD:AOW. Are they 20mm or 28mm?

TWD:AOW is The Walking Dead: All Out War and the figures are 32mm scale made of hard plastic.

OK thanks. Not for me then.

Rules overview here: https://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.com/2018/10/heres-negan-rules-overview.html

I have been busy painting Negan (and getting other things undercoated) before the weather turns.

If you enjoy The Walking Dead: All Out War, then this is for you, and you might be able to use it to introduce wargaming to non players. They build on previous rules and of course you get what is effectively Wave Six early (waiting for Mantic to print the TWD:AOW cards).

And remember, treat Lucille like a lady...

Just for interest, is it the figure scale, the material or a combination that is not selling it to you?

Here's Negan!

I do need to look at under the right arm, wobbly line...

A Zinge Industries Engineering brick cut in half diagonally adds some industrial detail to the base.

This afternoon I ran through the first scenario with two Survivors plus Negan.

The lighting is not inspiring, sorry about that. And bonus points for spotting I am using the Negan from the Booster pack.

A turn by turn description here: https://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.com/2018/10/heres-negan-training-day.html

The Plan fell over after the first round, not due to the rules, but a combination of the vagaries of fate followed up by doggedly sticking to a plan when not only the wheels fell off but they fell off in quicksand... Burning quicksand. With bears...

A random event locked the exit from a room while the character with the magic door knocker was fending off the hordes at the back of the party. Dwight was rubbish trying to get the door open.

It did not end well.

Now is there time for another game tonight?

Looks pretty sweet.  That Negan sculpt is pretty nice but the other Saviors look awesome.  I haven't ordered yet but I plan to slide under the preorder wire soon.  I'm hoping to make an order when I can pick up Advisor Dale and Scott Moon as well.

Well there was time last night (and only a little into this morning) for two games.

The first one ended badly as I left Negan to his own devices while pressing on towards the exit.

Moral, do not leave Negan on his own, use Clear The Way to get him past pinch points and Entry points.

The second one got within one die roll of victory. The exit room was Dark which meant that while Unsecured it spawned a Walker token in each Walker phase. John had cleared the room and if he secured it, Negan could Exit.

He (okay I ) did not make the roll and he got swarmed.
Dwight was watching Negan's back which meant that Negan reached the entrance and would not go into the unsecured room. Dwight could not get past him and did not have the Reputation to get him to move. The Walkers spawned in the Dark Exit room each Walker phase took Negan down, again.

Close but no cigar.

I will do some more planning before re-entering The Sanctuary this evening.

Finally I concentrated on getting to the Exit room, and hooray! Success.

I then tried it with two different characters, Tara and Laura.

The first game with these characters went badly, different skills and equipment meant they played differently.

The second was a success.

Flushed with success, I ran the game with the full set of characters, this required some additional doors and secure tokens.

I had a plan and followed it. In some ways, the additional characters gives you more options, but also more chances to block corridors.

Success.

Everyone made it to the exit, though John got Bitten. It does seem to be his lot in life.

Does this need two players, or is it playable as a solo game? You wrote that you ran through it, which might suggest solo gaming (and I haven't been paying attention to Mantic's announcements for a while)  :)
