Bookshelves for Frostgrave
« on: October 29, 2018, 06:50:28 PM »
Inspired by some bookcases made by a Twitter user called 'Jasmin MedievalMinis' I thought I'd have a go at mass producing some. Rather than make individual books, I found you could cut blocks of them out of 'blue' styrofoam (the dense stuff people use for stone walls).

The prototype:

The finished shelves:

The book cases are made with 2mm mounting card and coffee stirrers:

Making the rows of books from styrofoam (biro= ballpoint pen):

The scrolls are made from strips of paper soaked in tea.

The jars are made of beads, with greenstuff circles for 'lids.' Roll some greenstuff very thin onto a plastic bag, then use a paintbrush protector tube or similar to punch out circles.

What a great idea.  They are fantastic. I recently got the Wizkids library/archive set which is excellent but this is just as good (or maybe better) and certainly less expensive.

Thanks. I looked at a few dungeon furniture sets, and individual bits were reasonable but the cost quickly got out of hand over multiple items...... :)

If you wanted to speed the process up a bit more, you could cut the shelf onto the styrofoam when you're making the books and just stick these straight into the cabinets. Or to walls.
