And so nearly a year later I’m back with Barons’ War.  :o :D

In fact, for the last few months I’ve watched with increasing envy as Malamute has added to his own forces, but I’d not had the room to paint minis and work on a lot of terrain at the same time.

Basically I’ve switched my primary terrain choice to a greener ‘September in Essex’ theme, as can be seen in my ECW thread here:

https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=116169.0

With various terrain items having been reworked, I now have a lot of rural terrain some of which can be used for this project’s location and time. There are images in the above thread  that give an idea of some of the terrain pieces I can now choose from.

I had decided to rebase my existing collection of thatched cottages to become  labourers’ housing for the ECW hamlet and though I will still use it for that, it’s primary use will now be in the Barons’ War.

A Medieval Village would have looked something like this (note the strip gardens behind the houses):

I haven’t (as yet.... it’s still remotely possible) added these rear gardens as I’ve gone for more of a film set look. This is what my village looked like on page 1 of this thread, comprising as it did of  stand-alone buildings that had yet to be reworked:

BEFORE

What follows is the reworked conclusion. Note that the colours in the following images are all over the place.

AFTER

Indoors, at night taken with lamp:

Outside in bright sun:

And finally, the compromise solution, outside in the shade, resulting in washed out colours:

And the three pieces together:

Superb  :-*

Brilliant attention to detail. Have you decided how you are going to make the strip gardens?

In related matters, I have now got my hands on ‘FFOL: Bigger Battles’ and am looking at it for the sort of Medieval (and ECW, and Samurai) games that I want to play. Hoping to setup a Barons War game in the very near future.  8)

I rather like that approach - might go and re-look at my Hudson & Allen buildings and have a think about the bases.

 :D

Ignore him Dirk  ;)  lol

Yes, I have the rules in front of me at the mo and am looking forward to trying them out. As mentioned above, I’m particularly keen to use them for 5thC Britannia, magic-free LOTR, 13thC Medieval, 15thC Medieval, 16thC Samurai, and 17thC ECW all of which have distinct flavours. The Barons’ War will probably get played first as it’s the only project for which I have two decent sized forces that are painted and have bases to match the new terrain. I’ve got a few more recent period  ‘heavier firepower’ projects as well, but at the moment I’m more into games that are mostly ‘hack and slash’.
