Looking good! how do you find the Perry HYW cavalry scales up with the Crusader ones?

The Perry rider is slighter than the Crusader ones, but mounted on a Crusader horse, and with the same Gripping Beast shield, so I think it blends in well.

 :)

Well it’s been almost two months since I last posted on the thread, and a lot has happened in the wider world over that time. Work went manic, even after most of the country went into lockdown, and it has ironically only been the last few days when I’ve been ill that I actually got some painting done  ;D

Managed to finish another unit of 24 Karstarks today...as with the first unit the bodies & arms are a mix of Fireforge Foot sergeants, Byzantine Spearmen and Frostgrave Soldiers. The heads are from Westwind, and the shields from Gripping Beast.

Group shot with the first bunch of Karstarks, and Lord Harald Karstark (a Crusader Teutonic knight with a Westwind head).

Speedy recovery!

Cheers all...it’s good to be back in the painting grove

 :)

They do look good en masse.

Thanks - en masse has the advantage that the camera is far enough away that you can’t see how crappy my painting is  :D

They look great! Loving the Harald conversion too!

Glad you like him...a last minute addition...need some more leaders and it seemed like an appropriate level of armour for a Northern Lord.

I hope you feel better soon, especially if it’s the dreaded...

I don’t think it’s coronavirus...at least I hope not...probably just a chest infection...my missus isn’t concerned at least.

I just got a load of GW archer which I am looking for suitable houses to join.

Look forward to seeing what House(s) you decide upon for them  :)

Great stuff mate, I like your take on the shield design  8)

Cheers - it’s a simpler version of the TV shield design, on the basis that I’ve had to paint loads of them  :)

Great thread with wonderful conversions.

Sorry if I missed it, but where is your castle from? Is it scratch built? I'm looking for a good way to build around towers or for a reasonably priced model set and have yet been unable to find anything to my liking.

Thanks - the castle is from Hudson Allen.

I’ve also got a ziterdes to add to it, but haven’t had a chance to paint that yet.

Managed to get a few more finished today

Lord Rickard Karstark.... a Crusader Miniatures Teutonic with a head swop and some green stuff for the hair.

And some Karstark cavalry .... Crusader miniatures HYW Hobilars with green stuff fur and Gripping Beast Shields. Bit limited on the poses (including the horses) but decent models to paint.

{edit} Hmmm....the lighting has made the horses look a bit plastic in the photos, but they do actually have some shading on them....

And some group shots of House Karstark

That's an impressive array! Thanks for showing the Crusader Hobilars too, I've not seen the sculpts up close before!

As usual, I'm a big fan of your work. You made the Crusader hobilars look great, I don't normally go for metal models from that era but yours look superb. Can't wait to see a photo batrep from you one day.
