Honestly the only thing that surprises me about this is that it's not 1/1 scale.  o_o

On the basis I’ve no idea who Mel is I doubt it...unless it’s by coincidence
  ;) :D

Mel's the Terrain Tutor...

HERE is the first video of the series...

Mel's the Terrain Tutor...

Ah ok, I hadn’t seen the board he did for 4Ground for their Fabled Realms KS - I just watched a bit of the first video with the MDF base board that warped ... switched off after he said for about the tenth time that he wasn’t worried about it, but I’m pleased that I’d already gone with high density foam  ;)

I expect that some of my steps will be similar, but tbh, I don’t really want to watch the rest of the “series” as I’ve already got an idea in my head if that makes sense ... and that’s nothing against Mel, he makes some real eye candy.

 :)

Your link is not working

The boards seem to be doing odd things with video links...but translate the URL when not in the tags into the video...I think I got it fixed

A small update...in more ways than one.

I ordered some of the “small-scale” buildings range from Tony at Brigade Models UK...fantastic customer service, great communication, and the product is excellent...really crisp castings, pictured here with a 28mm figure for scale purposes.

I’ve already ordered some more pieces...the range is really extensive...but I’ve started to have a think about where everything will go.

The main locations will have some conversion work so that Winterfell is different from Casterly Rock etc but they are location markers rather than accurate depictions on each keep.

As you can probably make out, I’ve begun to mark out the main water features..next up will be working out where the mountainous regions start/finish as they are clearly the main barriers to movement on the campaign map.

I’m not going to represent every House that gets even a passing reference in the books, otherwise the entire map would just be a forest of keeps - rather I’m going to focus upon the Houses I’ve already built forces for plus those that I might conceivably add....yes, as you can see, that is still a lot of forces...{gulp}

Still a few variables I’m considering:

I might have interchangeable flag poles next to each Keep so that the ownership changes on the map, but perhaps a bit fiddly and I’d be creating a lot of spare banners.

To represent armies, I could go with 2mm troops, or a single 28mm figure, or perhaps a counter with the House shield...the later would be simpler, otherwise I’m adding dozens more figures to the already rather lengthy painting queue  :?

The tiny buildings are a really nice touch, the scale fits nicely on the map!

I like how you've represented Oldtown, and the two larger square towers is a nice touch for The Twins!  :D

That looks like a LOT of Dornish houses already! You definitely don't do things in half measures!  :D

Amazing work!

That map is really impressive, if you get to use it as a campaign tool even ore so. I don't think I have ever seen anyone make something like it.
