[Kickstarter] Dungeon Universalis
« on: November 06, 2018, 10:34:42 AM »

Some days ago this was launched on kickstarter. It's your "classical" dungeon crawler, with the main difference being the absurd amount of time the developer has invested in creating the rules (more than two years, although he previously had worked in a "streamlined" version of Advanced Heroquest, which doesn't seem to be related to this game's mechanics...). It looks incredibly promising.

It's not as if I don't already have a dungeon crawler or two (or 10 ::) ), but this does look interesting, with nice components and what's best; it will fit into just about any setting and can even be used without their own tiles.

No guarantees; Crisis has drained my funds like a starving succubus, but I will keep my eye on this...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

It is a shame (for both) that it is on KS at the same time as the "Swords and Sorcery - Ancient Chronicles" game.  Both will do well, but individually could certainly do better.

Universalis looks promising, but S&S is the best Dungeon Crawler out there and the feedback on Ancient Chronicles testing is as good.

I guess that now Kickstarter has become the launch platform for games, conflicts of "like for like" will be more and more common.  Too many games...... :'(
