28mm British BoB Cavalry options
« on: November 11, 2018, 10:35:58 AM »
I already have an Indian lancer cavalry unit for my British BoB detachment, but I would also like to add a purely British unit.

Any suggestions please on miniature companies with suitable models?

Great War Miniatures:
British Army 1914 - peaked caps
 British Army 1917-1918 - helmets

Footsore Miniatures:
WW1 Early War Bitish - peaked caps
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

You might want to hang on -Empress have some British Cavalry in the pipeline(Jazz Age Imperialism) range.

In that case, I can wait, otherwise its some head swaps on those Great War cav, using Gripping Beast Wolseley helmets.

Did the Brits wear slouch hats at that time?  If so you could consider using Brigade Games Australian Light Horse:

These WWI Brigade miniatures seem ideal for my purpose:

Yes. I like the  Brigade Yeomanry, eventhough the SMLE Mark I are a bit clunky.

I have some of the Yeomanry cavalry from Brigade, but haven't painted them yet as (to my eye at least) they look rather small next to Copplestone figures. Yes, I know that won't be so noticeable on the table if you don't mix figures from different ranges in the same unit, but I do not want Bolo cavalry to tower over their British opponents!

British cavalry coming from Empress sounds interesting, but can someone tell me how Empress Jazz Age figures compare to Brigade in size please?

For what it's worth (a few tuppence!), I too have the Brigade mounted Yeomanry, and they paint up nicely. These were the only ones I found at the time, so when Empress become available, I'll expand on these for doing actions that have more cavalry in Mesopotamia.

Just purchased a squadron of both Brits and Aussie cavalry for my project, this was on the back of Lon's Black Friday offer.
