Agis Blackstone Fortress minis
« on: December 22, 2018, 04:03:11 PM »
Finally Warhammer Quest comes to 40K. I played the original WHQ a lot, and always looked for a 40K equivalent.
So you can imagine that I was very curious and also a bit exited about the game.

I have not played it yet, but started painting some minis...

Obsidius Mallex in Sons of Horus Colours. I really dislike the current look of most chaos marines, therefore I used at least some colours that I like. ;)

Pious Vorne, the pyromaniac zealot.

UR-025, the man of steel from an ancient forgotten time.
I painted him to fit my Mechanicus!

Looks like you're off to a great start. The alternative miniatures integrate seamlessly into the group as well.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Amazing! That robot is a really nice figure - and you've more than done him justice! The others are great too.

Really nice painting Agis, once again. :-* I purchased the game too, and plan to start painting them over the holidays. I really like  the mix of miniatures, especially the traitor guards and rogue psykers.

What I can't understand however, is the topknot (?) on the big bad marine boss... I mean it's like pole stuck on top of his head with skulz on it? How does that thing stay up? lol

I am thinking I will cut it off and move it to the packpack instead? Or just remove it altogether?

I was thinking the exact same thing.  Very silly bit of detailing there.  Other than that I rather like the sculpt, not sure what the problem with the CSM is from Agis' POV.

Regardless, fantastic painting there.  I particularly like the idea of Mister Super-Heretical AI Robot disguising itself in Mechanicus iconography.  That's one way to avoid having your data cores violently deconstructed.  :)

Well I don't like the warped armour, the backpacks, tooth and claws in the armour etc etc.
But each to his own. I will always turn Chaos minis a bit down...

I must've missed the worst of those, but then I haven't been paying very close attention.  The CSM above seems fine other than the silly topknot thing.  I remember the Possessed were super-mutated and the Nurgle guys have always been twisted and dressed in armor that shouldn't still be powered (or sealed).  I take it the more "regular" CSM sculpts have gone down the same rabbit hole as well?

Still, like I said, great painting.

The top knot might be a reverence to Abbadon...

game seems to be getting some good feedback / reviews.
don't really like the whole 40k shtick, but am tempted.
