Crafts and Minis for DnD and Skirmish Games
« on: December 24, 2018, 02:34:49 AM »
I've been on a kick lately of tracking my hobby progress each day on Twitter.  I have been a lurker on the LAF for over 15 years.  I wanted a place to share with this community some of my progress with fantasy minis.  I also started a YouTube channel where I do a video each week about what I've been painting: www.youtube.com/craftsandminis  I'll try to keep things updated here as well.  Thanks for taking a look!

The orcs are 54mm from Tehnolog out of Russia.  I get them on eBay.  Crude sculpts, but totally workable. Love your blog and books btw :)

Lovely work, FA. Is everything there 54mm? Tehnolog has some superb offerings (I think their armoured skeletons are my favourites). If you're into 54mm, have you seen the dwarves from Publius?

Thanks for sharing, and welcome! Keep us posted on your work!

Just the orcs are 54mm.  The priests are yet to be released 28mm from the game MYTH.  The bugbears are Reaper Bones models with GW weapon swaps.  I'll take a look at those dwarves!

Yeah, those giant orcs are good I like your paint jobs on them. I actually don't think they're overly crude either. They look like they're pretty nice to paint too.

Crude was probably too harsh to describe those orcs, true.  Soft details and a lack of definition in spots.  Totally suitable or I wouldn't have painted them up!  Here's some ogres.  The four together are Bobby Jackson Reaper sculpts with Daemon Prince head swaps from GW. The other is an ogre mage conversion using an orc boss from MYTH and bits from GW Ogres.

An Avatar of Orcus I finished (converted Reaper mini to be wingless and without a tail), a knight and ranger for Rangers of Shadowdeep (old metal Confrontation knight and a Privateer Press Pendrake with a shield added), and a Privateer Press Assassin Boss with a Reaper troll with GW ogre bits for hands. Weather isn't cooperating to be able to matte varnish any of the recent minis - and I like to glue on grass tufts after the varnish so the bases are unfinished.  Thanks for looking!

Finished up some more minis. A barbarian and dwarf from Celtos. From Massive Darkness, I finished an ettin and an ogre with a GW head swap.  I also did some quick work on four trolls from Old Glory.

Here was my entry for the December Guild Build Challenge on YouTube.  You had to use a globe Christmas ornament to make a piece of terrain.  Fun project!
