Maintiens Le Droit
« on: December 29, 2018, 11:16:37 AM »
I have managed to finish my Mounties which are part of a small project I am working on called 'The Scarlet Patrol'. I now need to finish some trappers/whiskey smugglers/gun runners for them to track down and arrest. Here they are on the trail of Mad Jack McMad, who so far, has managed to elude them in the snowy wilderness of the Yukon. But the Mounties always get their man...

Nice work, Old Bean - look just the job on that scenery. Where does the dog come from? It looks like a seated version of the one in the Pulp Figures Sergeant Prestown set.

Lovely brushwork, and you have to love the Mounties!

Thanks all for your kind comments everybody. As you say Arundel, you have to love the Mounties. Lon and Doug, the dog comes from the Sergeant Prestown's Canoe set from Pulp Figures. The kneeling Mountie is the paddler, waiting patiently for someone to paint his canoe!

Herewith the catalogue picture:

In my game the dog will be a deaf white wolf called Diefenbaker.

Mad Jack McMad, meanwhile is making his way to a lonely log cabin he knows. There's a storm coming and he needs shelter.

Unfortunately for Mad Jack the Mounties also know of this cabin and are heading to check it out.

Might not be an update on this thread for a while as I need to paint some more figures to proceed.

Most excellent work! The scenery is superb, and Mad Jack looks very much the part.

I've been thinking of picking up Pulp Figures' Yukon Peril range of minis for some time, and you've given me added incentive to move them to the top of my to-do list!

I'm showing my age, but as a youngster "Sergeant Preston of the Yukon" was one of my all-time favorite shows. Be sure you give your version of King good stats: he could take down a bad guy with the best of 'em.

Well, King, this case is closed.

I was talking aloud to myself. A habit of the old: they choose the wisest person present to speak to; the long explanations needed by the young are wearying.

Thanks Marine0846 and oabee. The figure in the first photo, second-in from the right is going to be Sergeant Preston. As to the scenery, I can't take the credit for it. These lovely terrain boards were made by Silent Invader of this forum. I bought them and two other sets from him earlier this year. I have to say that they are all superb and the envy of my gaming friends.

Here's a photo of the snow set that I am painting the Mounties for.

This is the Yukon in Arctic winter. The territory patrolled by Sergeant Preston. Where even the agonising cold failed to halt the feverish search for gold!

It is, isn't it. That Silent Invader chap is a genius with terrain. The other two sets are just as lovely.
