Pretty effective. I see possibilities for an even more grimdark SE, painting the armour and helmet in a sort of black with glowing reddish accents. Got tons of Stormcasts but never really found the inspiration to do something with them, but this might...

(I always think that 'proper' Oldhammer means black-edged bases, though - if not ones made from slightly curly card!)
