Red Ironskull Boyz (GW Armored Orcs)
« on: January 19, 2019, 02:25:36 PM »
Got these Ironskull Boyz from my brother. They are from the snap-fit easy-paint set, and are the same orcs as from the Shadespire set.

Fun project, they were a good experiment in using washes.

Oooh any recipes on your paint scheme ?

Very basic, but it was a nice experiment:

  • GW Warboss Green for the skin with a green wash (Biel-tan green)
  • Armor was Apple Barrel paint (granite gray and dark gray) with a little bit of one of the GW metallic paints drybrushed on, and finished with a brown wash (Agrax Earthshade)
  • Red armor was either GW Khorne Red or Wazdakka Red, with the same brown wash. The brown was worked great to give the armor a "battered" look.
  • Bone bits and bobs were a mix of Apple Barrel paints for white, gray, and yellow to get the "bone" color

My only complaint was with the big chief (the one with the cape and the furry shoulder). He had a gigantic gap in the furry part right down the center when he was finally put together. It was annoying but I fixed it with a bit of clay.
