That was a good looking table, I got to it just as it was being reset.

Are the compound walls commercially available?

 :-*That is absolutely outstanding!! :-*

Love the attention to detail. Always thought it was a pity the Yanks knocked it down when they returned.

Be passing not far from the site in a couple of hours as it happens.

You can get double use from that. Operation Frequent Wind, the final evacuation. Might make an interesting what if.

Two days time it will be National Unification Day here. Quite a few festivities happening.

The only visible remains are the curious serrations on the wall and I’m not even sure it’s the same wall. Apparently the concrete planters still exist along with a tree that must be over a century old. You can see the tree from outside but not the planters obviously enough. Couldn’t find the plaque commemorating the attackers.

The British Consulate General across the road is a rather dowdy looking affair. The French Consulate, not surprisingly, is a much more elegant affair. Slap bang next to the US one. One in the eye for the Anglos.

You really should Ged. There’s so much construction going on older bits are being lost daily. Noticeable change since my last pre-pandemic trip. Food in Vietnam is quite simply without parallel, the world’s greatest and largely unsung cuisine* and the locals quite delightful.

* At home I have the choice of at least a dozen or more Vietnamese restaurants within a four minute walk from my door but the food in Vietnam is so much better.

Carlos..........i have only heard good things about Vietnam
..and the residue of the War..same mate met and old VC vet
in one of the Museums..had a go at a weapons range..his favourite
the AK47 chinese version!..visited a village that uses full agent orange
canisters as a base for the buildings.Like me he rates the food as one
of the best in the world,,the French footprint and wonderful decayed
buildings...yep gotta go
