The new greens look excellent Ged, I showed pics of them to a friend who served in Vietnam at the time of Hue, he said your sculptor has truly captured the essence of the grunt in action....
cant wait for their formal release as I am already imagining creating the terrain.

Looking good so far Ged. The faces of these grunts really capture the stress of the situation they were in. Look forward to the release of the figures.

Not sure I like the other post on the site trying to get people to say which range they prefer, especially as you're just developing your range and haven't released all the foot figures yet.. How can you compare something you haven't seen in the flesh?!!!

At the end of the day, quality and realism will out and the punters will make their own decisions.

Good luck with the range.

DaveL, we didn't believe that it was appropriate to have that discussion on either of the range threads, which is why it was moved. The new thread itself is not breaking any forum rules as long as it remains civil. I also personally agree that it's too difficult to make an informed decision when one of those ranges isn't released and there's customer painted examples of the other range already circulating. I'm not quite sure you needed to use the words "quality and realism will out and" in your summation, it seems to be suggesting that one range will have an edge in quality and realism, and as you say, we can't really compare those yet. They may be not even be criteria that attracts a buyer to a particular range. The punters will make their own minds up and it needn't be exclusive to one range.

I for one will almost certainly buy from both. Share the love.

Hype only lasts so long

lol  That's all this thread is. Pure marketing hype from Gringo40s.com.

I don't get to post very much due to restrictions on the internet at work, but I keep up to date reading this board and the ww2 one on my phone. I've noticed that every time this thread drops off the top of the 'Conflicts' board, a trivial reply appears to put it back at the top, a standard social network marketing trick.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not implying any wrong doing (missing COMMERCIAL tag?) or skullduggery here, but let's be honest, this thread isn't really about the releases because there haven't been any.  True, the Mule is out, but allegedly it's the wrong version for Hue, and there's no driver.  And despite all the direct 'Release Date' questions there's not been a straight answer.

I get the need to market a company and it's products, advertising isn't cheap, and if a company wants to spend it's budget on excellent demo games to ensure it wins prizes (deservedly) at prestigious conventions then all power to them.

I just get frustrated by all the hype.  I prefer companies that just get on with it and put out packs of high quality figures at regular intervals.

And yes, I do appreciate the irony that this post will put the thread at the top of the board again. As will the myriad of other posts that follow explaining why I'm wrong and why Gringo40s are a really, really great company - which, by the way, I'm not saying they aren't, I just don't find them so myself.

An alternative view might just be that Ged is pottering along at his own pace on his own project, steadily releasing images of stuff as it becomes available, ie sculpted and replies in his usual manner to everyone interested enough to comment. If you think it’s just marketing hype then you should examine other threads. Ged seems to genuinely enjoy interacting with his customers and takes on their feedback. Ten years ago you would have described that as positively un-patriotic or un-British.  ;)

I don’t see a carefully crafted social media campaign afoot. I see a friendly chap in a niche industry being kind enough to share images of an even more niche project in progress on a little web forum. Your mileage may and clearly does differ.

* Thanks Ged, my bank in the Bahamas has confirmed the payment went through for the thread bump.

Which I read as ‘Good afternoon, Flamengo 6, San Jose de Bolivia 1 and we only need a draw against that shower of Ecuadorians to go through to the next round.’

Summat like that anyway :D
