This is very much off topic. But while we are on field rations. In the 90's there was a comedian i Denmark, who as a joke/protest ran for parlament. One of his campaign promisses were Nutella in all field rations. He actually got elected and made good on his promise, unlike most other politicians.

Now back to the awesome minis.

Carlos, mine were actually Vietnam era rat packs rather than my loosely termed MREs which I understand were more your era. Vienna sausages were the best of the lot but everybody wanted them. We did not have the luxury of dried stuff but the curry powder was horded and often used to make a big batch of curried rice when we collected enough rice.

In those days, we did not have 7 day shopping and possibly not even Saturday arvo opening, so we could not get to a store and buy our own additives. Most of us were from another state, so we did not have relatives who could buy extras for us. I guess it just made the local RSL food even more attractive when we returned from "up bush".
Cheers,

Ha,ha. Yep Carlos, the butter concentrate helps emulsify the potato powder,a little salt never went astray either.

Love the new miniatures, pulled out all my old books; Tank Tracks (Centurions and rattletraps,Australian) et cetera.

Edit: Worcestershire sauce was know as ‘Range Stew’.

worthy of note...a promising New Nam film
in the mix is "the Last Full Measure" relating
the momentous event surrounding Airman
William H Pitsenbarger...saved 60 GIs ultimately
at the cost of his own life..awarded America's highest
Military honour/medal. :)

Don't know if I've missed the answer to this question in earlier posts, but what rules are people thinking of using for this conflict.
I tend to buy the figures and consider rules as an afterthought!!!!

of possible interest.
To get in the zone for the soon to be released Hue 68 range i wondered how
present day MRE meals would compare with the Nam issued items..so i ordered
direct from Texas a box of present day Army (covers civilian and emergency
services)
...they arrived pretty fast ....no C4 provided so you get a flamless ration heater
has to be done outside as oxygen can be displasyed by the heater tab!...so havnt tried that yet,,,beef stew!. contains many of the old favourites..hot sauces.."the spoon"..salt pepper.."candy roll" crackers...exotic dry fruit has been added..crushed red pepper.  pinto beans now instead of Lima beans and ham, plus veggiie stuff.
anyway ,just a minor but fun diversion

Fantastic range of releases. Disappointed there's no M60 sculpt in the initial release, but I'll have plenty of them from Empress to fill the gaps in the meantime  ;D
