Groupe Franc Motorisé de Cavalerie
« on: January 25, 2019, 01:48:54 AM »
I found these guys from Crusader by accident, and couldn't resist the buy for a platoon.  I bought enough to outfit a Chain of Command platoon.  The figures haven't arrived yet, and wanted to know what uniform they wore.  Any ideas?  I came up short using Google.

Any help would great!

Here's the link for the figures:  http://www.crusaderminiatures.com/prod.php?prod=1025

Thanks.

Although  a different cut to standard French uniforms, the colour was much the same a greenish brown, googling dragons portes brings up some images of reenactors

here is my version :

the motorcycles troops uniform was said to be more green than the standard french uniform .

Dans les situations critiques, quand on parle avec un calibre bien en pogne, personne ne conteste plus. Y'a des statistiques là-dessus.

Very nice work on those. I see each squad has different coloured flowers.

I also like the colour diagram, very helpful. Is there an equivalent for standard French infantry or other arms of service?

for the color used, it's a mix of vallejo english uniform with olive green ... and a wash of sepia wash mixed with green ink

for french infantry uniforms, same mix with less olive green , same wash ( some minis on the right are in french standard uniform

i used different colored flowers to help with the squad structure .

about the groupe francs de cavalerie do you know this book :
https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015046339548;view=1up;seq=7
GFMC n°5  story . with a complete list of weapons and vehicles at the end ...  ( and in English )

Thanks for the book link. I shall enjoy that. I am very much looking forward to getting mine finished and on the table. It is a very much neglected subject in English speaking countries, and the French campaigns have political overtones these days, with only Dunkirk and Arras ever mentioned. I see Osprey have published Case Red which I will probably get. Hopefully this is a sign of growing interest in the French forces.

@ Lou,
Wow!  Those guys look nice...I can't wait until these figs show up...been waiting about 10 days now.  About average from UK to US.

Thanks for the color scheme too!

Looking through the EW 1940 Handbook, I guess what I really was fielding were the , "Reconnaissance Motorcycle
Fusilier Platoon".

I think that the motorcycle guys could fit the bill for either.

Thanks again for all for you input and inspiration.
