Olsson's Fellowship
« on: January 29, 2019, 05:54:24 PM »
Managed to track down one of the a little bit older Fellowship boxes from GW which I am trying to get done just to have it whole painted up. Mostly to keep track for myself and put a little fire under me to actually get it done.

First off we have Pippin, mostly identified by his red-ish cloak and blue jacket from early on in the adventure.

Next on shall be a Samwise with his pots and pans.

A second hobbit joins the fellowship after an extended hiatus. Samwise did not turn out as well as Peregrin I fear, rusty after months away from a brush.

Nine he gave to Mortal Men, proud and great, and so ensnared them. Long ago they fell under the dominion of the One, and they became Ringwraiths, shadows under his great Shadow, his most terrible servants.

A few dark figures that shall give chase to my noble fellowship have been painted up. Next up, another hobbit from the Shire.

Next we have the mighty Meriadoc Brandybuck to join the fellowship, as I currently lack a Frodo I shall have to turn to the tall people next, untrustworthy as they are.

I did not quite manage to get the cloak the colour I wanted, it's meant to be a grey/brown but almost became something green when I mixed my colours, but it turned out well enough. It's intresting to try and paint after a reference as well, not something I have done before. They are all meant to be based on the attire shown in this picture.

My quest to get the fellowship together continues very slowly. Had some time over easter as I was with family and spent it painting up the wizard himself. Was fun to try and make a character stand out with so few colours.

Years later and I'll admit I've only done slow work on my fellowship. I have however upgraded my miniature photography so figured I'd post better versions of the little men I did do back then. Aragorn and Legolas are potentially next, but no one hold their breath.

Beautiful painting and your photography skills have developed considerably. I’m intrigued by the background effect - if you get time, maybe you could post about it on the Photography board?
