Sorry Sky Captain - I really like your figures, but I'm afraid the bases have let them down somewhat. I reckon if you tart them up a bit and re-enter them next round, you'll get a much better vote. Not being critical for the sake of it, just trying to help  :)

More Pulp Figures sailors! I think this represents the fourth entry to use them? Possibly third, but they've got to be among the most widely-used figures this LPL season!

Right, the bases (at least from this angle) lost it for me.

First entry's photo could be a bit clearer. The figures do look nice.

The second entry's photo is a bit dark and out of focus as well!! The figures don't look too bad either.
Good luck to you both!!

Basing is not my speciality. And this time I even got the wrong color for drybushing in a hurry befor deadline.  ::)
Anyway, can anybody give me a hint how to do decent basings for east africa without spending to much time?

Start with a "muddy brown" then drybrush with a "sand/cream" color??? That’s what I usually do on my own bases...  :?
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Same as me.
For the bases just do what you have done with the sand and glue. You just need to be a bit more careful. Run you finger around the edge when you have just put on the sand to tidy it up. I paint mine with GW Graveyard earth, dry brush with GW Kaki and a final high light dry brush with GW bleached bone. I then glue on small patches of static grass or flock to break up the single colour.
