A fun write up.  The pictures are full of character (no pun intended).

Such fantastic scenes!  Those polyhedral critters in the maze are especially fun.

I really like those hedges. I may have to steal the idea.  Lovely work!

Another very good report from you ;). I also would like to start the campaign with my group but unfortunately most of us have spare time at the moment. Hopefully we can start next month.

What I always wanted to ask, do you play with the black hack first edition or second? Seems more like the first, if I am right? Have you considered changing to second edition?

Also if you play say a rnd adventure do you create your creatures on the spot or do you draw your creatures from a predesigned book etc? (like using the monsters from basic d&d only taking the HD value and convert them to the black hack stats, it should be easy enought to do that).
They say we come from nothing and to nothing we will return, but in between is gravity and bridges left to burn.

They worshipped, so they said, the Great Old Ones who lived ages before there were any men, and who came to the young world out of the sky.

We use first edition.
I prefer the magic rules from first edition but fighters are very, very powerful and we might switch to the second edition rules for them to tone them down a bit.
Eventually we'll end up with a mixture of both versions I'm sure.

As for monsters- if I'm writing my own scenario I design my own monsters, they're very quick to do. Obviously you can adapt any D&D monsters quickly too but I don't have any D&D resources to use. For this campaign the monsters are given, all I do is make them much more powerful because they're very weak as written.

If you're transferring D&D monsters to a Black Hack game I would double (at least) their HD, Black Hack parties are much stronger than D&D parties of the same level. Later on, after the players reach 5th level, I would triple or quadruple HD and increase damage accordingly. A 10th level Black Hack party is similar to a 20th level D&D party in terms of offensive capabilities.

I'm glad you're enjoying the reports :)

Thanks for the response.

Where is the difference between the magic rules?

Also thanks for the tipp. Btw do you play every scene with miniatures and how do you like miniature play with an rpg? I also use figures as often as I can in my games, but in some situation I leave them of the table. Often when the players are in town for some chatting with the locals.

In second edition you are at a disadvantage if you've cast the same spell already that day.
I use miniatures most of the time. I use scenery to set the general tone of the scene and miniatures if there's the possibility of a fight.
I've always used miniatures except in the early days when there were no miniatures available for the genre we were playing (sci fi) and I've only started using them for Cthulhu games recently, up until now we've played Cthulhu (since first edition) as theatre of the mind.

I use miniatures and scenery so everybody is on the same page and everybody's mental image of the scene starts from the same place but they are still like a stage set, they don't show everything or encompass every nuance. The reality of the game is still set by the GM descriptions. We don't play tactical gridded games like D&D and don't use miniatures in that way. In fact, we like to not have to do much fighting if at all possible.

If the players are in a town just shopping I wouldn't put specific miniatures down, there'd be a town section and maybe there'd be a major NPC or two if I could manage that quickly. Shopkeepers and their shops don't usually get any representation.

For my long-running Ars Magica campaign that I ran in the 90s I had a specific miniature (often converted) for every major and recurring NPC, This meant I could, if I wanted, put an NPC in a crowd and the players could spot him/her and know who it was immediately by spotting the miniature.
This added greatly to the flow of a very complex and interwoven game and let all the players easily keep mental tabs on a very numerous and varied supporting cast.

Each to their own though, there's no right or wrong way. Except using unpainted miniatures, that's wrong :)

Thanks, 3D printed viruses :)

I bought them off eBay, I hate making vegetation, they were very cheap.
