Yep, mud and dust is a great reference, grabbed that a couple of years back with birthday vouchers.

Those Aussies have turned out well my only nit-pick would be that the bum bags should be the same colour as the rest of their webbing. Different coloured Bren pouches are correct but the bum packs were part of the standard webbing and issued in OG.

@Splod. I was thinking the same thing for planning and budgeting purposes but my willpower failed me and I ended up sending Matt a wad of $$$$.

On a vaguely related note, I've been re-reading Horner's Phantoms of the Jungle and I am really looking forward to some SAS.

As is In Good Company, his personal account of experience as a platoon commander with 4RAR. He won a Military Cross during his tour and the book is an excellent account of service in Vietnam. IIRC he wrote another tome on Vietnam but the title escapes me.

Indeed, have it in my bookshelf. I think the other is Delta Four: Australian Riflemen in Vietnam.
Trackers by Peter Haran is good too, though if you’re a dog lover skip the last chapter...f.....g bureaucrats.

Do have a squizz at the 5RAR book I linked to. The whole thing is downloadable. Enough detail to provide with gaming scenarios for a month of Sundays.

More piccies on the 5 RAR Association website and info on the battalion’s second tour (1969/70).

https://www.5rar.asn.au/contents.htm

Of course if you want the real mother lode of contact reports and scenarios, there’s an ADFA site I’ve linked to before but well worth repeating. Maps pretty much every contact and many mine incidents in Phuoc Tuy Province and beyond that 1ATF and 1 RAR were involved in. Plenty of other useful info including excellent topo maps. Some nice piccies too.
