"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

They better be. The Dominican Republic doesn’t just invade itself you know*.  :D

* Actually, depending on your definition, it arguably does.

Ficou marcado na história

Or the 2nd undeclared Korean War.
Oh and apparently M-14a were Used by Argentine soldiers of C Company, Regimento (Especial) de Infanteria 25 in the Falklands War at the Battle of Goose Green and San Carlos.
And with some head or head cover changes, they can work for a few other nations troops being real or imagined that is from the 1960s to the 2000.

Now that's interesting for our future Falklands range  ;)

Hmmm, I’d take that with a large grain of salt, whatever Wikipedia might claim. I’ve heard that before and it’s been suggested that the handful (if that) of weapons concerned were actually BM-59s, the Italian updated 7.62mm version of the Garand. It look very similar to the M-14. Limited numbers of BM-59s along with SAFNs converted to 7.62mm were in the Argentine inventory. I’ve seen one myself in the excellent Museo de Armas de la Nación in Buenos Aires.

M-14s were not a standard weapon in Argentina,in fact there’s nothing to suggest they were ever in inventory. I’ve visited the Museo de Armas twice and it is incredibly well stocked, I’m fairly certain I would have noticed an M-14, I almost bought one 30 years ago. Argentina had a very robust arms industry in the 1970s and produced their own FALs so why they would issue a non-standard weapon to a company group is beyond me.

Of course one could always ask the chap on TMP who claims to have been a Malvinas vet, despite his name not appearing on the very comprehensive list of those who served, run by the Argentinean Ministry of Defence. If memory serves, TMP's most prolific poster was a special forces, police sniper cum lawyer/commando, one man Exocet, etc, etc. He’d be bound to know for sure.  ;)

Failing that, there’s a pretty good Spanish language website with a fairly exhaustive review of weapons in use by the Argentine and Chilean armed forces at the time of the ‘Beagle Conflict’ AKA Operación Soberanía,  the almost-war between the two in 1978.

https://aquellasarmasdeguerra.wordpress.com/2013/01/23/algunas-armas-utilizadas-durante-el-conflicto-del-beagle-la-guerra-que-no-fue-1978/

Worth looking at and a fascinating confrontation. It even sparked one of my favourite films, Mi mejor enimigo

Derp! I actually knew about the Argentines having and using BM-59s. And I have shot one before.
And I had a conversation with a gun shop owner down the road from me that, he didn't own a M14, but one of those Italian mag fed Garand's a few years back.  ;D
I just got all excited when I read that, because I was trying to find other nations that used M-14's.
I mean many Central American, South American, Caribbean, African and Asian/Pacific nations were given them. So The Marine's when not spreading democracy, can pull double duty in junta imagination games.  :D
