Banana Oil you could get, but my first Wargaming buddy,
one Steve O'Leary (Are you out there Oscar?) got hold of
some Carbon Tetrachloride. If you cut up sprue & put it
into a jar of that stuff, left it for a while (days?) you
ended up with a plastic liquid. That could then be 'painted'
over tissue (cloaks, tarpaulins, lorry tilts etc) & it would set!
Alarm bells would be ringing if you tried it today ::), well we
were only eleven. ;D

You can do the same if you put the sprue into liquid plastic kit glue. Did it recently when making some plastic kit helicopters. Great for filling gaps and getting a buzz.

Wow, Spret…..that’s a blast from the past….Carbon Tet was dry cleaning fluid back in the day, and I think was also in Halon fire extinguishers……not sure if it’s easy to get now, but it was a standard cleaning agent in antiquity….

getting a buzz.

When I was a young shaver, & worked in a Bank,
one of my tasks was to remove the E13b characters
from the bottom of returned cheques. This involved
a solvent pen (much like a broad nib felt tip pen) filled
with Inhibisol. On one occasion, while trying to refill it,
I spilt the whole can. The branch was high for days.
 lol lol lol

My first job was in a hat factory brushing glue on to straw boaters for stewards at some horse race or other. I was as high as a kite… but I still couldn’t find any banana oil  lol

Who knew that LAF was some sort of AA for hardened former (?) glue sniffers?  lol

When I was significantly younger I worked on Saturdays in a paint factory as a dogs body.

The boss wanted the handrail on the mezzanine floor painting and he sent me to the boys in the paint lab for a tin of paint....  I was duly given a small gold tin with no label and a hairy stick and sent on my way.

Later the boss wanted to know what was taking so long...  Apparently (I don't remember) I was singing The Size of a Cow by the Wonder Stuff to the paintbrush about half way down the (progressively worse painted) railing.  The paint was full of toluene and I was absolutely off my head... much to the amusement of the boys in the lab obviously... the boss took me home early as he didn't think I'd make it on my pushbike.

I was told the story later...

I think we should limit the 'effects' of Viet-Nam
games to playing period music, LOUD.

Latest vehicle for the Vietnam range master has just arrived.

Created by the ever talented Richard Humble the Duster M42 is 28mm = 1/50 SCALE as is shown in the comparison picture with the figures.

This is the pre master so will be checked for detail and manufacturing ease then re printed before going into moulds to create a resin and white metal product for our customers.

Great work Richard.

Very nice.

I hope they are at Salute.

Does this mean the ARVN might get an M41?
