Presumably they simply placed telescopic sights onto SLR rather than were issued specific rifles?

I wouldn't be surprised if they brought back the 303 rifle with scope during the war. That's what our battalion had in the seventies. I would not use a scope on the SLR, too many variables.

Sent off an order to Nathan today, some diggers, the USMC mortar and an Ontos. Looking forward to getting stuck in next weekend hopefully.

That makes sense as the BRITS were still using a sports version of it during that period.  ;)
