Where’s the upper track run on that bucket? Hoping empress will treat us with both T50 turrets and M74C turrets for the Australian buckets. The M74C version covered much of 1967-68 including, I believe, the Ba Ria and Binh Ba engagements. If it came as an extra, item that could be swapped for other turret options it would be great. The Aussie M113 also needs a new cargo hatch. Australian versions had a boxy ventilation system mounted on the hatch.
The upper track isn't present on the side skirted version, must be one of them.
Needs to be visible on the non skirted version. The Aussies removed the skirts as they kept getting jammed up with jungle debris. Same with the Cents.
toIn Empress's defence and a mea culpa, this is one of the original (as Rich states) skirted ones. The recent ones (ACAV) have the return track.I have one, but not to hand.Apologies.
Love the firebase Paul.Enjoying painting the ANZACS - missed the Centurion - it was sold out by the time I saw it was available Wonder if the M113 will get an Aussie upgrade???
Why in our defence? There is nothing wrong! This is the early M113 with side skirts. The later ACAV version does not have side skirts and so has a full track. That version is the one that we are currently looking at to fit the two Aussie turrets.
Centurion fans might enjoy a book I’ve discovered; Canister ! On! Fire! by Bruce Cameron,a hefty two volumes,a little more detailed than Jungle Tracks, it’s specifically about Centurions in Vietnam.
Another great book covering all vehicles and artillery in Nam is "Mud and Blood: Australian Army Vehicles and Artillery in Vietnam", author is Michael K Cecil and published by Australian War Memorial/New Holland Publishers.
Mud and DUST!! Doh!
Thanks for the comments on the ANZACs - they were a quick and easy paint, Mr Hicks at his best!.*snip*
