At 1/50 scale, that's a 3.7 ft. wingspan.  Storage could be an issue....:D

I wonder what the kill radius on a typical game board would be for a 750-lb. dumb bomb? :o

Given that they could carry around 70,000 pounds of ordnance and tended to fly in 3 ship formations for Arc Light missions, I suspect the point is moot. It’s a whole lotta table.  :D

About 16 were lost in combat so they’re not impervious to flak et cetera.

Probably best as a whole lot of sports hall.  ;)

The Arc Light missions over the South pretty much were. They bombed from so high up they could neither be seen or heard on the ground and there was typically fuck all on the ground that could reach ‘em even if they were detected. Plenty of Vietnamese testimony as to the psychological effect of devastating bombing runs that had absolutely no warning. All the declared combat losses were over the North.

Now if anyone wants a jet bomber that might fit on the shelf, there’s always the dear old Canberra, Take yer pick, USAF B-57 or 2 Sqdn RAAF B.20.

Airfix do a rather nice Canberra in 1/48, and it’s not complicated to put together.

Been contemplating one for a while. Used to know a chap who was a navigator on a 2 Sqdn Canberra. Terrific chap. I remember he still had a pair of Yank jungle boots that some Vietnamese cobbler had put a zip in, in the style of the old flying boots.

A lot of the Nam vets in Armoured Corps had zips in their boots, almost a badge of honour for having been there.

Harsh….hmmm….but true.

I sold all my Hueys to Paul a while back, otherwise I’d probably be at the “looking for some B-52s” stage by now.

Some very interesting photos there Paul, thanks. I'd recommend the book by Lex McAulay to anyone who hasn't read it as well.
