Cheers! Not seen that monograph before. Second the recommendation on McCauley’s book.

Of course now we want Australian gunners.

The Arc Light missions over the South pretty much were. They bombed from so high up they could neither be seen or heard on the ground and there was typically fuck all on the ground that could reach ‘em even if they were detected. Plenty of Vietnamese testimony as to the psychological effect of devastating bombing runs that had absolutely no warning. All the declared combat losses were over the North.

Now if anyone wants a jet bomber that might fit on the shelf, there’s always the dear old Canberra, Take yer pick, USAF B-57 or 2 Sqdn RAAF B.20.

My old boss Terry used to fly Canberras, for RAAF over Vietnam, at the same time as my two deputies, one had been a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and the other an RAN gun commander who (I believe) shelled Vietnam. I guess I was the odd one out.

The main part of my brown water navy is now complete.

These are the monitors and landing craft. The models are from a company called Merrimac which is  (or was?) part of Old Glory in the USA. They are slightly below scale being true 25mm (1/56) but work well for the table when the 28mm Empress Miniatures figures have been added.

4 Landing craft and 2 monitors.

I made a helo pad for one of them which can be removed as can all the tarps.

Next up the Empress PBR’s and LSSC’s which are nearly done. Then its game time. ;)
