15mm Star Wars Can it be Done?
« on: February 05, 2019, 08:31:34 PM »
I recently found two of these in a local toy shop for quite a decent price.

Hotwheels Star Wars ATST posing with it is a 15mm WWII FoW mini.

I reckon the ATST would work in 15mm. But is it worth starting a 15mm Star Wars project?
Can I find troops that will look like Storm troopers?

I can find plenty of minis that will be useable for Rebels... Its just Imperial Troops I am struggling with.
I don't need any of the main Characters from SW.... just foot sloggers.

Cheers
LGW

I found the trick was to buy cheap SW Risk sets, cut the heads off and apply them to 15mm miniatures ;)

Really enjoyed looking at your Flickr album! I particularly like the trees with coloured polystyrene balls on, and the Alien set up. Some great ideas:

1. Are those Rebel Minis Titan Marines?
2. What rules are you using for Star Trek...
3. ...and Aliens?

They are rebel titans.  Khurasan does a nice stormtrooper too.

I use 5 Parsecs for Star Trek.

Aliens I use a quick corridorcrawl set of rules I made myself.

I also used some GZG as rebel pilots as well.

Can definitely be done. Micro Machines has a lot of suitable minis, too. Khurasan and also Highlander have excellent not-SW minis, though the latter are much bigger and fit better to 18/small 20mm.

I have been tempted to do something similar for the Alien Squad leader rules...

There are 15mm SF figures from Alternative Armies and Ground Zero Games but not sure that either have anyone suitable for Imperial troops.
Brigade have a range of 15mm but most of those are not suitable either although there are some PacFed armouted troops that might look ok painted white, although the heads are not right, but might pass off from a normal gaming distance.

Khurasan  has non  Stormtroopers "hint hint" listed as "those curious  chaps"  they are really nice figures, and Highlander Studios  has two different sets listed as" space pals" might need to send him an email and see if he is still making them, after that the main figures are covered plus you can go to "Gunners Wargaming" blog, he covers everything I have mentioned  plus head swaps from Micro Machines figures to 15mm  am a very large list of proxies with links..

i know this topic comes up plenty,
im very tempted to attempt it my self..

so far i'd like to match FFG legion and just scale it down...

i like the pack fed stormtroopers.. and there skimers as speeder bikes... but what fits the rebels fleet troopers and core units and little atrts walkers?  im open to trying 6mm maybe

im happy with legion game play but can not afford to keep up with the tanks and larger units if im trying to buy both sides so something small i can whip out at family gatherings to play with brother or nieces  would be awesome..

also ive found an alterative armies han solo.. but im lacking a Darth and luke....

Could see for those that sell or print and sell the line can print in a 15mm scale.

Wow!  Those Titan Marines in black and white look even better than real stormtroopers.

White Titan troopers from Rebel Minis. Scout troopers from Brigade games. Officers and Princess from Eureka.
Emperor from Splintered Light.
