Any light, Football/Rugby type games?
« on: February 07, 2019, 12:59:08 AM »
Hi!  First Post so please forgive me if its not formatted to standard.

I've found lots of good information here just by searching but one thing I haven't been able to dig up is a light alternative to bloodbowl/guildball/dreadball.

I'm looking for something as light as the Song of Blade and Heroes rules.  I've got a bunch of figures (Kaosball etc) that I'd like to use for a quick and easy game.

Any leads?  Thanks!

EDIT:  Possibly not finding anything because they are not wargames.....and I'm in the wrong forums?

They do not use fantasy figures really but for real football (soccer in the US), I would recommend you look at fuba (http://fubaboardgame.com/fuba/) and/or Striker(http://www.strikertablesoccer.com).

Heresy Miniatures used to have a set of free rules for a small fantasy football type game. Not sure if they are still around somewhere.

I don't think it's directly available in the EU and UK for some reason (only the US), but I have been ogling Blitz Bowl.

Blitz Bowl basically is a simplified version of Blood Bowl, with all required components in the box. It is (partially?) card driven, and is played with just a handful of team members instead of 11. Games can be played in under an hour, and it is considered to be a gateway game for Blood Bowl.

I'm hoping it will be released in the old world as well; maybe something to check out?
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

I think Dreadball works well as a light game, it's not difficult and plays very fast. Love it!

I have never actually looked at the rules but I should!  Thanks!

I can't find it in Canada but it seems the fit the bill! Thanks!

Thanks I'll make sure I try to find those rules and check them out!
