Hi All,

I am looking for figures in either British or American kit to compliment my German trained troops from Brigade.   At this stage I'm thinking the Empress 30's Brits look like the best option, but wanted to turn it over to more expert minds to see what people thought.

Opinions or other lines you'd recommend?

Thanks!
Chris

This is for 1942, yes? In which case I'd suggest going either with Reiver Castings, which do Chinese in a combination of the British and Adrian helmets that would have been common to forces hailing from Yunnan, or Great War Minis' WWI British cavalry, which at least have bandoleers.

If you're referring to troops in shorts that were equipped after the retreat (which is what the first reference picture suggests), I'd pick either Woodbine Design's WWI Middle East British or 8th Army figures with US headswops.

Thanks!  I had given up hope on finding figures in shorts and thought I'd have to go with trousers, but those Woodbine figures look pretty good and I'm glad I can get them with Brodie helmets instead of having to do conversions.

Thinking of shorts, perhaps Warlord British desert infantry with Gurkha heads in helmet?

So after thinking about the suggestions (thanks again!), I opted to still go with the Empress figures.  The WW1 figures just didn't have the weapon options I wanted, and I didn't feel like doing conversion work on the 8th Army puttees. So while not 100% accurate, I think these will pass well enough:

As usual, more pics can be found on the blog:

Figures look lovely.
It is nice to see one of the less chosen options for WW2.
Well done.
I like the buildings too.
