Great choice of colours. I think you captured the uniform's greenish brown perfectly. How are you finding the Coat d'Arms wash?

Hi, I think in future I am going to use the wash sparingly, it tends to be very opaque so rather than being a wash it goes on like a pooling paint. That's not a problem with the wash over brownish paint, but over other colours like green it can be a bit glaring.

Those look pretty cool!  I use Citadel's "Agrax Earthshade" wash on my Frenchies...works like a champ!

Nicely done. Interest in early war has really picked up momentum in recent years and for CoC there's no doubt the Blitzkrieg handbook has contributed to that.

Great job I like the basing too very summer on the Seine.
Which reminds me why do all manufacturers if EW French sculpt them with great coats on?
Did they fight in them even in summer?

I suspect greatcoats are easier to sculpt than tunic and trousers. But it's a valid point given the French campaign was May and June, when it's very warm. Shirt sleeves and braces with piled coats might be the order of the day. Possibly worth hunting down period pictures, but all the ones i am familiar with show greatcoats.

I did enjoy doing these, but goodness, the Crusader and Artizan sculpts need a lot of clean up. I cleaned up a platoon of Artizan British Airborne the other day, and it took me about 3 hours.

Yup a quick googles shows every photo and nearly every picture with a coat - even shows a few Brits with Greatcoats on so maybe it was a cold summer in 1940?

The fact that almost all the coloured illustrations also show the coat only makes me think they wore nothing underneath!  lol

PS You must have got a bad batch of Artizan Doug, I bought several blisters of their Commandos and they were fine
