15/18 mm African village details?
« on: February 18, 2019, 03:39:04 PM »
Title pretty much says it.  Who makes items in 15/18 mm I can use to decorate an African village?  I know of Baueda offerings - not Africa specific but useful  - and I've already bought in some suitable beads I can use.  Wondering what is out there I haven't thought of.  Think in terms of East Africa and later portions of 19th century, circa 1880-1890, more or less.  By east Africa, from Kenya to Mozambique and even the far eastern portions of the Belgian Congo.

Thanks for any help, pointers.

Well, now you've gone and done it.  You're going to cost me some coinage, for sure.  Thank you!

A couple of questions: are the products either resin or metal, especially the structures?  And in some of the game/town shots there is a woman in a loin cloth carrying a basket, do you know who makes that figure?

Thanks for the input.

Mike's figures are made from metal, the rest are resin. I'm not sure about that specific figure though, it's not one of his AFAIK.

ragbones, I've never seen Crom's Anvil before.  Wonderful looking stuff.  I'm sure I will be getting some.

Oy!  Easy 200 pounds in an order and with shipping, that's 300 American dollars!  Ouch.  And I don't do fantasy.  But those buildings will sure make a nice East African port of some sort.  Since Bagomayo is taken, I think I'll be naming my port Mustardpot.  Or, maybe Senfkrug if my translator is working right.   Yup, Senfkrug it is.

When you say woman in loincloth carrying baskets, are they like this one? She's from Magister Militum. 15mm Egyptian water carrier

Crom's Anvil has some really nice stuff. From what I saw in Africa, his Market wares ( pots)  are really suitable.

AB rocks!   Fast, friendly service and a great value to boot.  I can’t wait to see what products he has planned next for Crom’s Anvil.

Cheers Dan!

My Crom's Anvil topic over on TWW would be a good place to get the early gossip!

AB

That is a fantastic thread, and apparently going back all the way to the very beginning of your new venture (Crom’s Anvil)!

So much to absorb.  I have a feeling I’m going to be using it a lot as reference material.

Thanks.

So, I placed a nice little order and it arrived today.  More and more kept coming out of that box and I was asking myself, "Did I really order this much stuff?"  Apparently so.  And very nice 'stuff' it is, indeed.  Praise me to the sculptor and the company.  All very nice and very clean.  Just wash and paint.  And the figures were pretty good, too.  The resin is quite white which was unexpected.  And those detail pieces will make a nice addition to many a game.

The company gets my unreserved recommendation.  And, yes, I will be watching to see what comes out in the future - despite not needing much of anything else these days.

I'm going to have to go back through my order as received - were there a few extras tossed in, maybe?  Not today though, different "painting" project at hand.  Need to stain a newly installed front door so 1:1 scale work.
