Whenever I see “Commercial” I’m expecting marketing fluff. It’s nice to just find great greens.  8) :-*

I'm noticing a trend - almost every figure has a hat that is too small.

I suggest you google some images then, particularly of the hats in question. ;)

I have been trying to decide how to paint the gypsies when I get them. Tried to find something in color on the internet but had no luck. The short "jackets" seem to call out for some color like dark green or black. The discs on the short "jacket"I am guessing would be silver.  The hats would be brown, grey or black? The one looks like he has a waist coat or cummerbund. Shirts would probably be white. Trousers would fall into the grey, black brown or tan routine.  Nick, if your sculptor found something on the internet please share before I try to paint some form of spandex on these asphalt repair men.  ;D

The second Downy Junior Holmes film should help.

Although spandex (80's style of course) would be entertaining  lol

If you Google Szgany, you won't find anything, All the images of Romanian Gypsies circa 1890-1900 I found are in black and white. But you can get an idea from these pics.
Jackets, trousers and hats - any combination of various browns, faded blacks and greys. Dark green I think would work. Several of the figures are in shirtsleeves with waistcoats again I think these should be dark colours, sometimes with some embroidery.
Shirts are going to be white or off white with some decorative embroidery, check out the colourised photo below.
The discs on the jackets are probably metallic silver.

Note the SMALL hats ;)
And what appear to be lemons hanging from his coat lol
And trousers with fancy patterns!

This guy has embroidery on his jacket and the boots resemble cowboy boots!

This colourised image shows the shirt off quite well:

Some traditional embroidered Romanian shirts. I guess these won't be far off, although I imagine the gypsy ones won't be so clean and freshly pressed. lol

It's a mix - not every hat sits that high on the head.

Indeed check the second  image you linked to and you will see exactly how high each of those hats actually sits on the head. Especially top hats which is what your first comment related to, they were worn high on the head.

Don’t recall any of mine wearing straw boaters, which I believe were more fashionable in the Edwardian era.

But if you still insist it’s a common fault with the Miniatures then that’s fine with me. You are of course entitled to your opinion, however misinformed you are.   :)
