I have the same issue with Frostgrave, and even Mordheim. Humans are boring, I see them every day. I want elves and dwarves and orcs and goblins.

I don't understand that complaint.  Mordheim's had rules for all sorts of nonhuman warbands for years now including all the ones you just mentioned, and most of them are available for free on various sites if you poke around  abit.  Even in the original box set they had the Skaven and the questionably human Possessed.

The FrostGhostShadow series is too highly abstracted to make racial differention vital IMO, but it wouldn't be hard to tweak things with house rules.  Agree that the lack of advancement for most models is a shame in the earlier games, but Rangers fixes that to some degree.
