What Is This THING I’ve Done?
« on: February 22, 2019, 11:57:11 PM »
I have no idea why I made this, and even less what to call it, but here it is:

As you can see from these pictures, it’s nothing but a toilet paper roll, hot glue, a few pieces of mesh ribbon*, a little PVA, a few plastic floral garland “tendrils” and paint:

Enjoy!  Comments and critique welcome.

Looks like a seed pod which has been brought back from Antarctica and in a warmer enviroment has suddenly started to sprout..... :(

It is one of those things that make you wish you had brought a flamethrower

Funny you should say that.  The first thing my wife said when I showed the pod to her was to ask if it was flammable.  :)

I always enjoyed the story of the fictional “Yateveo” (“See ya later”) tree.  Maybe that’s what I’ll try next:

Or maybe I could try the legendary and horrific Waq Waq (Vak Vak) tree, with a few conscious victims being slowly digested but still able to scream and moan:

PS.  HG Wells also wrote about seductive orchids:

I'll admit, it does look like a watermelon that's had rather a lot of science misapplied to it!

A mutant watermelon?  That works for me.  :)

For me it is quite clear that you already have been taken over. Slaves do not need to know why they do things, don't they ? Are you absolutely sure you have only one of those ? (Surely there are far more, spreading and spreading ;-))). And now you have done it: I MUST make something like this, it is much stronger than I, you have doomed us all ! Curse you, curse you !

But hopefully I can also paint some opponents who will try to liberate us ? Thank you for this marvellous  idea !

I think I've several items in Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials similar.

I'd say more, but might be dinged for bringing Future Wars here...  lol

Really, I think it's a handsome project. Well done, Dan!
