Lego Wargamming
« on: March 10, 2019, 12:04:38 PM »
Got bored of painting so I thought I's try some 40mm Prepainted figures from AliExpress. They cost about 60p each, but some of them are made up of several figures. These are Building blocks compatible with leading brands of course, not actual lego. Elephants and chariots made from what we had at home.

There are times when I think these look even better than painted minis - or at least more fun. Very inspiring!!!

Great stuff! I remember emulating wargaming with my lego knights as a kid!

Thanks for the replies. They are certainly fun, my son loves em. It’s easier to get non war gamers to play using Lego too. These are based for kings of war historical, but rebasing is a snap(see what I did there). I think I might do all my armies like this from now on (prob. not).

Using real Lego would be too expensive but this stuff is cheap I’m surprise no one has tried selling armies like this in the uk. What do you think gap in the market?

Thanks

Great idea. I never thought I'd get into superhero gaming, but after a few themed lego sets caught my idea, I decided regular miniatures weren't going to be my Batman games hereafter.

I look forward to seeing you put these guys into further action.

Nice!  I used to play a lot of BrikWars (http://brikwars.com/) years ago.  It's fun building your own armies and terrain.

Just try Lego Romans. Most the figures are made by gladitus or something like that. They do Romans, Spartans, Greeks etc. You can get sets of 20 or individual figures.
I've made some of these myself out of bits, you can’t buy elephants with howdahs and chariots etc (I bought the Balistas though, took ages to find). The peltasts are just naked figures with paper decals stuck on with pritt stick. (My 11 year old showed me how). Same with the numidians. Brown blank minifigure with the head of marvels black panther on. If you search Lego moc (my own creation) in google you can get lots of ideas.

I’ve spent longer ordering bits off Ali than it would have taken to paint stuff, and ohhh the agonising wait for weeks for the bits to come.. it’s been a right laugh 😆

I've played Brikwars a few times.  It's a hoot!

Hope you had fun, how'd the battle go?

Romans won, but only just. They were thrashing the Greeks but then the elephants got revenge, wiped out 3 units before they could kill them. Julius Caesar then beat Alexander in hand to hand combat (1 die each, highest wins instant death). We alter the rules a bit to suit ourselves, but kowh is great

It's a great idea... I do hate Legos, mind you (never understood the appeal) but yours have turn out pretty well. Thanks for sharing.
