15mm acw basing
« on: November 22, 2020, 12:21:03 PM »
Hi everyone
I have large painted acw armies (AB miniatures).
I’m looking at basing fir fire and fury. The recommended base size is 25mmx 20mm for three figures. This is really tight / difficult because of the larger AB minis and various poses. I can either go wider bases ( eg 30mm) or deeper bases (25mm deep)
I’m interested to know how others base their 15mm minis for acw.

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Peter

I ended up with 30 by 20 mm for infantry.  See link below for my reasoning:

Three on a base 30x30 for me.  For cavalry 30x40, guns 40x40.

As at the club I attend we only play Brigade F&F and several members had large collections based for Version One of those rules I have stuck with basing, approximately, for that version rather than using that of 2nd edition.

I use 1" X 3/4" (25mm X 20mm) bases for 3 infantry, 1" square for 2 cavalry and 1" X 2" deep for artillery. This would work well enough for F&F or its distant cousin Bloody Big Battles. Infantry are mounted a mix of 2 up, 1 back or 1 up, 2 back. Looks deeper than a single rank.

With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

thanks everyone
Ill probably go down the 30mm x 20mm path because of the size of AB minis..
