English for Bauge 1421 at Salute show
« on: March 18, 2019, 11:07:45 PM »
I'm putting on the battle of Bauge 1421 at Salute, with the Lance and Longbow Society.
It's an unusual battle, largely as the English attacked as a force of mounted men at arms, resulting in the death of Henry V's brother Thomas duke of Clarence. It's also popular with the French and Scots as a rare, pre 1429 victory!

So I need mounted men at arms (36 in all) and so have used the new plastic Perry Mounted Knights.
I've sneaked in a couple of leaders riding caparisoned mounts, with Fireforge and Steel Fist Miniatures horses.
More pics are on my blog.

Now moving on to mounted archers for the game.
Cheers, Simon.

Fantastic! This is the first time I've seen the new plastic knights painted up enmasse.

How are you planning to use the mounted archers in the game - as mounted infantry (dragoon style), or simply light cavalry with a bit of firepower?

The old metal Perry knights must look pretty dated and tired (and undersized) compared to these crisp new plastics.

By the way, you say on your blog most of these are just basecoat > wash > highlight. Is that true of the knight in yellow on the first pic? If so, I'd like to know what colours you used....

Hi Charlie
Yes the archers will be mounted to get from a to b.
They’ll shoot and fight dismounted.
The yellow (from memory) is Citadel Balor Brown, washed with Army Painter Soft Tone, then with P3 Ochre.
All the best

That is a glorious looking lot, and doing Bauge as a show game is something different for a HYW game, though I am left wondering how many of the Salute participants will have ever even heard about that battle.
