Is This Where Carnacki The Ghost-Finder Fits Into?
« on: March 30, 2019, 03:18:51 AM »
1) Just curious if this is the board where those Carnacki paranormal investigation scenarios would fit into, or if the discussion would rather belong elsewhere.

2) Also, I recently “read” a couple of the tales in audiobook form (as I worked on some terrain pieces) and wondered if that 1913 series had any gaming potential.

Thoughts?

PS.  Although the series is from 1913, it seems that new stories about the character are being written these days, in comic book form:

Interesting, the House on the Borderlands is a fantastic, quite disturbing read :)

Would make a great game setting.

I'm not sure myself, but I'm going to piggyback my post onto the thread so it winds up wherever it does belong if this gets moved:

Not sure if this is the right board for this, but it's too good not to try sharing - the youtube Channel HorrorBabble does audio readings of old horror stories, and as of this week they've finally finished doing the entirety of William Hope Hodgson's Carnacki stories, concluding with "The Hog" yesterday.  If you haven't had the pleasure of reading these already I highly recommend a listen.  Even if you are familiar with them, they make excellent inspirational listening material while painting.

Plenty of Lovercraft and Robert E. Howard on the channel as well.

You might enjoy Marcus Rowlands Carnacki Cylinders, being a freeware roleplaying game set in Carnacki’s world:-

His Forgotten Futures stuff in general is The Shit.

Seconded.  Great stuff, even if just as reading material.  A sadly under-appreciated RPG.
