Tercio de Burgos, "Amarillos Viejos" (Old Yellows Regiment)

A big thank you to my Spanish friend Jose (chema1986) for some fabulous information and painting references for my Spanish Contingent.

They really look the part! Nice sculpts and great paintjob, as always!

Great work on those militia guys. What manufacture are they from?

That Spanish guys steal the show though. I want one to. Hope its fine to copy it. They are awesome.  Even though I am painting Danish and Swedish unit for the Scanian War, I guesss somebody hired these guys as merc and send then North.

Cheers
Erik

Great job on these minis Gareth!  I really like your Spanish tercio!! and the French militia is very nice too, the French used milita as reinforcements raised in Langedoc and the Pyrinees area during 1672 and 1689 wars.

Cheers Jose, it would have been much harder without your guidance on flags and uniforms etc.

Excellent unit with a long history! I just now found out that the two companies could be discerned from their horse colors:

In 1664, the two companies were reorganized: one company took the name "Grey Musketeers" (mousquetaires gris) from the color of their matched horses, while the second were called "Black Musketeers" (mousquetaires noirs), mounted on black horses.

1672 Sheldon's Irish Heavy Horse in French Service

The flag is actually Fitzjames, the name given to the regiment later in the period.
