The dwarves are really great, of course, but I'm getting tired of them.

The Ottomans' paintjobs are somewhat crude, but they achieve exactly what they're supposed to achieve.  I bet Moriarty does great when he posts pictures of his minis in the toy soldiers forums.

The first entry looks like they are very old, antique figures...are they?? Nice work on the second entry...soft, muted colours, nicely shaded and skin tones are blended well.
Victory is guaranteed to the last man standing, but always remember those whom you stepped on to get there!!

Sorry, chaps, don't post on the toy soldier forums; and the figures are brand, spanking new Spencer Smith miniatures - with slight adjustments. The original figure was a Napoleonic Bavarian infantryman.

Group photo? Have to see what I can do after Round 10 is in - though I might have to flock an old LP record for the base :-)

Moriarty: I'd love it if you told us a little bit about your interests.  Do you only collect "toy soldiers", or do you paint other minis as well?  Do you wargame?  Do you collect already-painted minis or do you paint all your own?

My origins, so to speak?

Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery... Ah, wrong evil genius...

No, I collect minis from a wide range of maudfacturers, scales, periods and styles, not to mention making my own figures when necessity dictates. I paint mainly for wargaming purposes, but I have resorted to prostituting my 'art' and painting to comission on occasion. I have had some pre-painted minis before (em4 figures), and even had figures painted for me by professionals when a wargames project found itself with too little time for completion. The results were largely uninspiring.

Currently, I have a whim for two 'old skool' armies, Austrian and Ottoman of the early 18th century, based on the brief siege of Banja Luka. I'm working on painting a batallion, squadron or battery per week, hence the preponderance of 'toy soldier' style figures in my entries for this season of the LPL. Next season, who knows? it could be 2mm Land ironclad figures on the blocks.

Cheers,
