Well, I can never help myself - I just keep adding to my army.  This idea just jumped out at me while I was watching a friend of mine play Warmachine - I grabbed these off the table, and went to where I had my workbox, found the belgian cavalryman I had not yet decided what I wanted to mount on, and started laughing maniacally.

After all, horses would be hellishly expensive to keep when there is not easy grazing.

And, finding that the military was far too busy trying to fend off concerted attacks by German, British, Red Martian, Desert Martians, Green Martians, British, Cephalopods, and other forces, the Norwegian government formed the Lennsmaan, a group of lawmen based on the highly successful Texas Rangers.  By hiring retired Rangers and pensioned US Cavalry, they found a creature in the high plains that, according to Doktor Fabius, is related to the desert sandworm, but has legs for the firmer ground.  Traveling in herds, the Norse found that by capturing a female, all of the males became docile enough to tame, and they became the new 'horses' for the newly founded Lennsmaan.

(Please, any actual Norwegians, let me know if I got the right name - it was the closest thing I could fidn to a sheriff or ranger historically.)

The models are D&D Bulettes (the smaller ones from Dungeons of Dread) with Brittania Cavalry on them.  I like the Brittania models - while they don't fit in perfectly with the rest of my Norwegians, I feel they have a rough character that befits an outdoorsman.  I got a group of them from a bring and buy at a convention, and I just ordered some more from the only place I could find that has them.  I am also working on building a herd of them, so that I can have them as an objective/hazard, thus my questions about calves for these guys elsewhere.

Okay thats cool, bulletes are one of my favorite crazy dnd monsters.
As for the name: Lensmann is the name for Sheriff and the plural is Lensmenn. So your definitly on the right track. Great army once again.

I thought it was just an homage to Doc Smith. You mean it may have been the other way around? KEWL BEANS!

I thought the Warmachine mounts were crazy good, but those re-purposed D&D, my mind is truly blown!  :o

Oh good.  Spelling was the least of my worries for these, but that is correctable.
