Weird Japan
« on: June 15, 2009, 03:20:36 PM »
I've made a small start with my Weird War II Japanese (also, a welcome break after that cartoony crap I've been doing lately    )

An officer in field dress (brigade games), two ninja(s) (perry converted with TAG weapons) and a sumatori (Urban War).

All figures are painted in the colours I intend to use for my regular Japanese ww2 minis, so they blend in more. I'm not going for historical accuracy here (on the historical figs I mean), just for a "if it looks right, it is right" feel, so no need to point out how I got all the colours wrong (I don't care.. ). Skintone is a bit yellowish, which might not be pc in this day and age, but I really wanted a pulpy, comic book feel to them and I like it.

A group shot with the zombie I did a while ago:

Officer (too much light, sorry):

Looking good.  :) Flesh looks spot on to me, I go for a similar look when I paint orientals myself.

Yes. Yes, it is. Very suited for Weird War II in my opinion. ;) I've got two more. Lovely models but with some hard to reach places with a brush.

Those are quite neat...completely different, but would be great in a Pulp Action game set somewhere in the South Pacific on an island occupied by some fanatical Japanese War Lord doing some wierd "scientific research". Thanks for sharing.

Indeed, they would work well for one of those ww2 Dinosaur island stories à la "the land that time forgot" that DC had a whole series on for a while. :)
