Scarab A-H 40th IR 3rd Battalion
« on: August 07, 2009, 10:00:23 PM »
Hi there,

Its been a while since I posted here, its a real pain having this site blocked at work   :-[ and with I new baby in the house I dont get much of a chance to surf at home  ;).  I put these on the Scarab Miniatures forum, but I thought there might be a few people here interested in seeing them as well.  All figures are from Scarab, some with minor modifications.  All comments and queries welcome.

cheers

Andy

Thanks for posting! Very impressive stuff. The little details like the signposts really bring it alive. What rules are these for?

Nice little army. Very well painted.  :-*

What color do you use for the figures in "light blue" uniforms? It look like it could be a good color choice for the French late war uniforms as well…

thanks for the comments guys, Army is organised using Warhammer Great War Rules, though its still a bit short of the 1000 pt mark, I need a 3rd platoon in my 2nd Company which will take the 'Army' to about 860 pts but with some smoke barrages etc I could probably make it to 1000.

The light blue I vallejo Blue Grey number 70943, I used it on my french as well  ;), but I think it works for AH Hecht Grau (Pike Grey) quite well to.

My Battalion also has a slight family connection as I've painted them up as the 40th IR 'Ritter von Pino' which was recruited from the same city in Poland my wife comes from.  Though because of the large number of regiments in the AH army with very similar collar patch colours and button combinations I can at a push use them as 4 different regiments, 2 'German' and 2 'Hungarian' because by this point the distinction in uniform between the 2 had gone. I've listed them below:

IR No.4  'Hoch-und Deutschmeister' - Sky Blue Collar patch Gold Buttons
IR No.32 'Kaiserin u. Konigin Maria Theresia' - Sky Blue Collar patch Gold Buttons
IR N.40 'Ritter von Pino' - Light Blue Collar patch Gold Buttons
IR N.72 'Freiherr von David'- Light Blue Collar patch Gold buttons

Lovely work on the miniatures. I like the way you have created scenes on some of the bases. You have shown another dimension to wargaming with miniatures - well done!

I like the way you have individual bases integrated into larger bases.

The Scarab figures have loads of character and they paint up really well - another great paint and basing job!  I like the idea of the figure base within a base as well - did you custom make them yourself?
