Siege of Rhodes 305BC - Siege game
« on: April 29, 2019, 10:02:46 AM »
Hello Folks, over the past few months I've been building things for a 6mm siege game - Rhodes 305BC.

Except for the ships involved everything else was started from scratch. I had no 6mm figures so I had to learn where to get them and how to paint and base them. I also had to build the city of ancient Rhodes.

Surprisingly, none of this took very long. I started in October 2017 with the ordering of some figures but I really got stuck into it in January this year. I played tested the first full game at the start of this month and now it's finished and will be present at Little Wars (Melbourne) as a participation game.

You can see lots of pics on my blog at: http://this28mmlife.blogspot.com/2019/04/siege-of-rhodes-game-1.html
If you go though the past couple of months you can see all the progress reports telling what I was thinking and what I ended up doing.

Here's a few pics to give an idea of what it looks like.

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Nice work on the siege and city.  At first glance I thought that the city was from the Roman Seas fortification and building sets.

Thanks. Some of the buildings are Roman Seas but I designed the majority of them and the walls. Re-reading my initial comment looks a bit misleading - I meant that I started with nothing except some ships.

Incredible amount of talent to turn out such a great looking game at that scale.

Beautifully done. What’a great example of what can be achieved with smaller scales.

I am speechless. This is magnificent in a truly ancient sense. Maybe it’s one of the seven world wonders of ancient wargaming.

That looks great! Something different from the norm. Is your sea velour fabric? It's really effective.

Echoing everyone else here, but that is something pretty special.

A giant project, executed with great love to historical accuracy!
Many congrats!

I played on this table at Little Wars Melbourne. The visual appeal is what drew me to play on Melnibonean's table.

Was an absolutely a joy to play on, and I took some photos too:
