Congrats!

In other news... the seocnd track printed over night; on initial check it looks good

Next up turret.

Turret basket has been beefed up (I'd not realised but the basket rails as printed was 0.5mm thick but still printed just fine!) I've increased them to 0.8mm for robustness. I was going for 1mm but they looked too chunky.

I still need to tweak the hull: there are a couple of areas that need reworking.
The handles on the rear deck are very flimsey and need 'connecting' solidly to the hull
The headlamp guards are not right still.
Also the mudguard connections need to be a bit more sturdy as they are easily damaged at the moment.

Hopefully get the changes made tonight and the turret on the printer overnight.

Cant wait to see the M48 finished. Given your efforts I'm sure it will be well worth the wait!

Thanks!

Second track out - looks OK.

Turret printed overnight, looks OK at first check but might reprint as the layer lines appear quite promenant on the mantle.  I'll reprint in a different orientation.

Problem is the best orientation is flat but this causes a 'softer' edge to the turret.
The problems arise when the curved surface approaches the plane of the print.
This is because, like a contour map, you get fewer contours so you get a much more noticable steps.

Orientation makes a difference

Remember the layers are 0.05mm so not that noticeable.  This effect is because of the angle at which it was printed.

Printing again flat and at 0.02mm/layer.  9 hours...

Finally got somewhere... got a decent print - jsut a mantle cover to greenstuff and a minor repair to the hull and it's ready to go.

Gage commando is likewise almost ready plus another vehicle thing is close behind...

Problem I have is I can do clean stuff like the CAD work, and I can dash out to the printer and set it off/clean it up for 10-15mins at a time but I don't have much time for messy stuff (Like the greenstuff) as I'm inevitably on child minding duties.

Any chance we can see it next to some of your figures? I am really hoping that the 1/50 Corgi M48s were over scaled because they were massive compared to 28mm figures!! Lovely looking model... how long for release?   ;D

Identical size-wise with the Corgi by the look of it and just as it should be.

It’s a pretty big unit in real life.
