I don’t think you have that quite right. I am sure it is “expands to exceed the space...”

Space? What's that? Does it exist?

Haha thanks for all the comments and interest chaps. Well the project is well under way, here are a few progress pics:
 shed going up:

Big inside 15 ftx 10 ft

Wargames table under construction (before I have even got the windows in):

Table almost completed.

The space underneath can easily take 50 of the 32 litre tubs I use for storage:

Impressive so far. What so many of us can only dream of! Is that a 6 x 8ft table?

I would suggest the inside is painted sky blue with a few clouds above table height and the outside an appropriate camouflage.

Make sure there is room for a beer fridge, beverage preparation and food storage. An armchair or two is always handy for pre and post game deliberations.

8x6 is the total table size you see there. You can just make out the 6x4 piece of MDF in the middle of it? That will be the playing area. The end of the table that is fixed to the wall will lose 1ft for shelving above and around the table. The other 3 sides will have a 1 ft margin for paperwork, dice, rulers, etc.

It's been a long time I have wanted such a hobby space so I do know exactly what you mean. It is fun being able to design my own area as well, to my own specifications and needs.

I think I would have opted for the playing area being flush with the rest of the table? So at least you have the option for a larger gaming area if you need it? I know what you mean though about an area for dice, rules and marshalling of troops and reinforcements. Nice if you have the space.

That's still an option, as the 6 x 4 board is not going to be fixed in place, just dropped on top. But even having a 6 x 4 "standard" gaming area is a novelty and a luxury, I don't even have the terrain to fill that yet!

You do have those contour hills (Just need flock on their edges)
& your trees. Not to forget the Sci-Fi bits nearly ready.

Haha yes lots of things nearly ready...I also have some stone walls and a nice road and a river, but compared to your river it's just a stream..

Beer fridge  ;D

Seconded.

And good on you for getting back together. I generally vacillate between wishing my ex wife spontaneously combusts and/or is sucked into a suddenly appearing worm hole, never to be seen again as every micro atom of her existence is torn apart.

Therapy is going well, though.

If my ex were being devoured by sharks, I would worry abt the poor beasts and the indigestion they would surely suffer shortly thereafter.

Its a great space taking shape nicely and I hope you get years and years of fun out of and in it.

Wish you both well going forward to.

maybe insulate for winter's cold  & maybe summer heat waves to

Last thought, make sure there's room in there for a bed to fold out if you need it  ::)
