Well I guess that this is something different from my usual topics, but I just finished it and thought to share it with you. Its a custom illustration created with the pyrography/wood burning technique, on a wooden case for the Eldritch Horror board game (and all its expansions). The actual size of the box is about 50x30 cm. I would dare say that pyrography demands even more patience than miniature painting. Cause you simply cannot erase a mistake. Its similar to the tatoo art. Once its on, its on. So you have to proceed slowly and also deal with bad wood quality, imperfections or residues of stripped varnish.
The first time I heard of the art of pyrography was in the late 90's. I was reading a Jackson guitars catalogue and the custom shop pages featured some guitars with some pyrography artwork on. I was really fascinated. Those were the dark ages before the internet
, well I mean there was internet technically but it was so new that only few people (usually with interests or work around computer programming) had it and it could really blow up your telephone bill. So I went in an art shop, luckilly found a pyrographer that was better than a plain sldering iron and pretty much experimented with it till I found how it worked.
